In recognition of their unwavering commitment to community service and their notable success in local business endeavors, Larry and Diane Murphy are being distinguished as the Grand Marshals of the Huckleberry Festival 2025. Their contributions have significantly impacted Bingen and the surrounding areas, earning them widespread admiration. Larry and Diane are the epitome of community and community spirit. The people and families they have touched and helped have not gone unnoticed.

The surrounding communities and neighbors thank you for all you have done. Like the old saying goes “It takes a village,” you both are at the front of the line helping and providing.
Larry was born and raised in BZ Corners, he has spent 40 years at SDS and still shows up every morning ready to go. Larry’s mother, siblings and their families all reside here. Diane is a Biloxi, Mississippi native who planted roots here back in 1996.
They are national celebrities! Larry and Diane are being featured on “America’s Best Restaurants” and they will share the episode once it airs. America’s Best Restaurants travels the country visiting restaurants you should eat at on a weekly basis.
In 2016 Larry and Diane purchased Chips Bar and Grill in Bingen. If that was not enough, they opened Murphy’s Family Watering Hole across the street from Chips in Bingen. Diane has her hands full running two restaurants where she is the face of the restaurants. She loves to cook, bake, and make specialty celebration cakes. Being workaholics, this works for Larry and Diane. Even though Larry likes to stay in the background, he is famous for smoking the meat for Chips and Murphy’s. Larry and Diane’s passion is “To make our businesses places that you can visit, have a delicious meal, some drinks, have a great time and not break the bank. We want you to feel right at home.”

Providing FREE community Thanksgiving dinner.
They have been known to donate some of their famous smoked meat to various funerals. “We do not ever want to make money from someone that is hurting so deeply, it’s just not right. We enjoy helping when and wherever we can.” Fires, providing free meals to the firefighters and evacuees. Stepping up and organizing as a donation drop off for items that are needed for people who have been evacuated due to the fires. Diane actively keeps the community informed about what is needed through social media and word of mouth, highlighting their initiative- taking approach to community support. Their philosophy is rooted in the belief that their community’s support keeps them open, and in return, they are committed to giving back. There are so many more instances where they step up and help as well. Despite their demanding professional lives, Larry and Diane Murphy prioritize family time, hobbies and future aspirations. They take pride in their businesses and hope that their children will continue the legacy.
Larry and Diane have a dream, “We want to go to Ireland and have a beer with the Murphy’s.”
