All About the Pie

Huckleberry Pie

When people ask me who my father is, I always smile and say, “He’s the man behind the pies.” But to me, he’s so much more than that. He’s the heart and hands behind Angel’s Bakery — a small place with a big spirit that started with my dad’s dream and his belief that good food can bring people together.

My dad, Angel, began his baking journey at Skamania Lodge in 1994. In 2009, he took a leap of faith and opened Angel’s Bakery in Bingen, WA. Today, that same bakery — now in The Dalles, Oregon — is a place where people gather for sweet pastries, pan dulce and a taste of something that feels like home.

What makes his pies special isn’t just the fresh ingredients or the flaky crust. It’s the story of a man who left his home in Mexico to build a better future for his family — and who shows, with every pie he bakes, just how far love, sacrifice, and a dream can go.

Today, Angel’s Bakery is more than just a bakery — it’s proof that a father’s dream can feed a whole community. And behind every warm pie is the bigger dream my dad carried here: to give his family a better future, one sweet slice at a time.

With love and gratitude,

Vivian — Angel’s daughter
